“Vanity Spawned by Fear” Record Release

On April 14th, Ceremony celebrated the release of their new record, Vanity Spawned by Fear, at the experimental theater, Brain Dead Studios, on Fairfax Avenue in Los Angeles. In a rarely intimate setting for a band now accustomed to playing much larger venues, the evening opened with a showing of the surreal animated 1979 short film, Asparagus, by Suzan Pitt. A visually stunning exploration of sexuality and self, Asparagus is a fascinating film, setting the mood for an evening of artistic expression. Following Asparagus, Ceremony debuted their original music video for the title track of their new record, Vanity Spawned by Fear, an extremely creative piece of visual art in its own right. The evening concluded with a live performance from Ceremony, playing a selection of songs, new and old, to a crowd both enthralled and energized. At a time when commodification seems to rule the day, Ceremony and their artistic endeavors are a breath of fresh air in a world gasping for inspiration.

We shot some video of the show, and The Separation is on our Youtube channel.  Be sure to check out the official Ceremony video Vanity Spawned by Fear on the Relapse Records Youtube channel as well.  Make sure to check out Issue 01 of the Today Forever zine to see more pics and flyers for the show.  If you check out our Instagram page, you can see more of Ceremony at Brain Dead Studios Los Angeles as well.
